Snow Day Fun
We enjoyed getting to play in the snow. This does not happen very often in the south, so we took full advantage.

Getting ready for Christmas
Today we began making ornaments for our tree. We also had some new Christmas activities in our stations. One of my favorite is "stocking sounds". After you pull the item from the stocking, you have to bingo dot the correct letter on the recording sheet. In another station, we had to help Santa fill his empty sack. The kids took turns drawing a letter tile from the bag and recording the letter on the recording sheet. They then chose a picture stamp that began with the same sound and stamped it on Santa's sack.

If I were a present....
To get us into the Christmas spirit, I asked each child if they could be a present what they would want to be. We had some great answers. Each child wrote their answer and drew a picture.

Thanksgiving Program
During November we learned how our Native American friends helped the Pilgrims when they arrived to the new land. We had a wonderful program for our parents. Everyone did a great job learning their part.
We also had some Native Americans visit our school. They had a lot of great things to share.

Red Ribbon Week
Last week we celebrated Red Ribbon Week with theme days. We had sports team color day, hat day, camo day, and rock star day. On rock star day we enjoyed a "rock concert" with performances from each class singing their drug free songs. We enjoyed performing our song "Oh I Choose To Be Drug Free". Check out our team colors and rock stars.
Letter "P"
To celebrate the letter "p", we were invited to a Popcorn Pajama Party with Mrs. Lee's class. We had a wonderful time eating popcorn and watching It's A Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown. Later we wrote thank-you letters to the kids in Mrs. Lee's room.

Sparky Visits
October is fire safety month. During library and PE the kids learned about fire safety. The kids enjoyed a visit from Sparky.
Pumpkins
This past week we visited the Pumpkin Patch in Rainsville. We had great weather and a great day. The kids (and their teacher and parents) had a blast. We spent the week learning all about pumpkins, including the life cycle of a pumpkin. Our focus letter and sound for the week was /p/. Mrs. Lee's class invited us to a Popcorn Pajama Party to celebrate our study of the letter "p".
Spiders
The first week in October brought about a week of spider activities. We read books about spiders and learned spider facts. One of our favorite books was "Miss Spiders Tea Party". At the end of the week Miss Spider invited us to a tea party which we enjoyed with Mrs. Lee's class. After tasting several tea flavors (juice), we graphed our favorite. We also made a class book: "Our Spider Shape Book"
