Sparky Visits
October is fire safety month. During library and PE the kids learned about fire safety. The kids enjoyed a visit from Sparky.
Pumpkins
This past week we visited the Pumpkin Patch in Rainsville. We had great weather and a great day. The kids (and their teacher and parents) had a blast. We spent the week learning all about pumpkins, including the life cycle of a pumpkin. Our focus letter and sound for the week was /p/. Mrs. Lee's class invited us to a Popcorn Pajama Party to celebrate our study of the letter "p".
Spiders
The first week in October brought about a week of spider activities. We read books about spiders and learned spider facts. One of our favorite books was "Miss Spiders Tea Party". At the end of the week Miss Spider invited us to a tea party which we enjoyed with Mrs. Lee's class. After tasting several tea flavors (juice), we graphed our favorite. We also made a class book: "Our Spider Shape Book"

Monster Mash
What a busy week. This week our focus letter and sound was /m/. To celebrate a week of /m/ activities we had a Monster Mash party with Mrs. Lee and Mrs. Mayas. Mrs. Mayas had a really sweet room mom that provided us with some great Monster snacks. We also played some Monster games. We played pin the eye on the cyclops, monster eyeball relay, and Godzilla stomp. The kids had a ball. I took lots of pictures and will post them later next week, so be sure to check back. We also learned about our 5 senses. We tried to identify items by touch, sound, and smell. They were really funny identifying the smells in my "smelly jars". Tuesday night is Open House, so please plan to stop in and check out our room.

All About Me
This past week our theme was "All About Me and My Feelings". We read several books that dealt with feelings. One of our favorite was "Glad Monster, Sad Monster". We each took a turn sharing a feeling and what made us feel that way. To finish the week we created a podcast using the Macbook. We read the story "Chrysanthemum" and then graphed the number of letters in our name. Ava has the shortest name and Juvencio has the longest. We also made TLC people to represent ourselves.
